Dance and Performance Art

- Improvisational Dance -

I add a visual element to music that complements and enhances the overall experience of sound. My dancing expresses the music in visual form. This One's for the Seniors, Hand Dance, Improvisation for Two, Street Dance, and The Romance in Sadness all contain this kind of dancing. It tends to be an emotive and emotional form.

- Dance Performance -

I offer in-crowd, onstage, roaming, and interactive performance for bands, promotional events, and parties - - to energize, to attract, to cheer... to light! I dance to live music as well as recorded music. My strength is in improvisational dancing - - adding a visual element to music that complements and enhances the overall experience of sound. Here is an example of what I do with modern music. I also bring music and dance to retirement homes and senior care centers. Click here to see this kind of work.

- Performance Art -

I've created performance art to express personal stories, to promote the projects of others, and to experiment with concepts on stage as preparation for daily life. I've also created performance pieces to help people through difficult times in their lives and to explore social or conceptual taboos. Click the highlighted links to see examples of my performance work and performative costumes.

Interactive Training and Performance

- Community Dance Circles -

Let's get moving together! Everyone may share in the art and fun that is dance! I facilitate events in which we come together to share our time and energies through dance. "Non-dancers" welcome! Music playlists are developed from participant feedback.

- Line Dance Instruction -

Line Dancing is a social form in which a series of moves are repeated for the duration of a song. Line Dancing can be done to any type of music, from rock and pop to country-western. It can be as simple as a few steps side to side and as complicated as a professional routine. It's a way to do your own thing while still dancing in tandem with others. I teach line dancing one-on-one and also offer dance sessions to practice what we've learned.

- Everyday Awareness and Movement Training -

I sculpt my body in every moment. Through research and practice, I went from neck pain and month-long headaches in my twenties to increased energy and ease of movement in my thirties. I am constantly aware of myself, how I relate to my surroundings, and what I can do to better support the natural carriage of my body. I teach concepts and practices to improve the grace of the body, moment by moment.

Promotion

- Promotional Performance -

I attract attention to what you do, through performance art, dance, and improvisational movement. Whether it be the opening of your shop, or a fundraiser for your nonprofit, I specialize in engaging and interacting with people and crowds through the medium of performance. To spark. To pollinate. To connect. And enjoy ~
Here is some work I did with The Dayton Ballet.

- Website Design, Training, and Creation -

I design and code custom websites in html and css. See BakerFister.com and LauranaWong.com for examples of my web work. I also provide training on how to build and maintain your own site.

- Visual and Written Promotion -

I promote events, arts organizations, individuals, and anything else that inspires me. Using graphic design, wordsmithing, social media, and technology, I help turn ideas into large and small-scale reality. See examples of my words, graphics, and projects here.

Commemoration and Commission

- Handmade Books -

If you know someone whose story you'd like to commemorate in a handmade book, I'd love to create one for you. See Leila and the Second Skin for an example of this way to remember. Leila documents a time in my life, and gives voice to a story I needed to share.

- Custom Artwork or Art-Experience -

Do you have an idea that you'd like to be birthed in the world? For you or for someone you love? Well, call me the Art Midwife! Performance, Dance, Costume... a Plot, a Group... an Experience!..... I'd love to be part of it, whether it be in collaboration, in support, or the lead. What shall we create?

Home Care

- House and Pet Sitting -

I am house and pet-sitting in the Memphis and Dayton areas and would love to roam a little wider! I care for your homestead while you are away: offering round-the-clock care to maintain the condition and security of your property and to look after the comfort and health of your pets. Here is my profile on HouseCarers.com

- Decluttering and Organizing -

I organize kitchens, bedrooms, closets, garages, and groups. I've organized most everything, from tools, to data, to projects like The Sideshow. Lately, as I travel around from home to home, I see the need to help people organize their spaces. I separate, arrange, and order what you have; making it visible, accessible, and convenient to use.

- Room Design and Installation -

I value spaces that transport you to different worlds. I've been building worlds since 2006, for performance art and for other events like The Dayton Sideshow. I create spaces to transport; spaces to tell stories; spaces to use efficiently. For the first Sideshow, I created a Chill Room for people to relax amidst the chaos. In the photo you also see one blue wall of the Screening room I built to house video installation.
